Having been in the NAMS final these past 3 years and winning in 2012 and 2013 it is clear to see that The Moose is a competitive and exciting rugby club to be a part of. These successes were due to hard work in training and by the excellent organisation and hard work of our self run club. The captain of those years, Robbie Debenham, has pioneered the generation of the new Medics Premier League which will undoubtedly lead to a more competitive and improved standard of rugby between medical schools.
We have a rich history with 2014 being the 40th anniversary of the club and our mascot Basil the Moose head has seen every one of these years with the many successes and few failures that came with them. We have a large selection of players allowing us to field a 1st XV and a 2nd XV every single week. Our 2nd XV have excelled in recent years finishing 2nd in their BUCS league last year. We also play many local sides in both Hampshire Cup competition and in friendly matches giving us a full rugby schedule throughout the year.
We also take the social side of the club very seriously with numerous Saturday evenings celebrating as a team as we are the ‘Best Buds in the Place’. We also enjoy hosting visiting teams and socializing with them on our away trips creating good relationships with other rugby clubs. Our infamous ‘basil’ chant reminds us that we do things our own way.
We have a reputation
